The first colum n o f th e L oad C apacity C hart shows the
basic m odel series.
The n e x t colum n reflects the w heelbases available w ithin
each series.
The th ird colum n shows th e Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW)
ratings applicable to each series vehicle. GVW m eans the
m axim um design w eight o f th e vehicle itself and all equipm ent
added to th e vehicle after it has left the fac to ry , th e driver
w eight an d occupant weight and everything th a t is loaded in to
or o n to th e vehicle.
F o l l o w i n g t h e G V W c o lu m n s are the m inim um
recom m ended tires to qualify th e vehicle for each GVW rating.
The tire pressures listed in the colum n adjacent to th e tire
sizes in the chart are the m inim um required tire pressures for
m axim um perm issible loads.
The le tte rs “ B .E .” u n d er th e F ro n t and R ear Axle and
Spring colum ns indicate th a t base eq u ip m en t is satisfactory to
qualify th e vehicle for any given GVW rating. When th e letters
“ R PO ” d enoting Regular P ro d u c tio n O ptio n , follow ed by a
num ber appears in these colum ns (exam ple RPO G 5 0 ), the
vehicle m ust be equipped w ith th e ex tra cost equipm ent
specified by the RPO to q ualify the vehicle for the given GVW
rating.
The ratings show n under th e colum ns identified “ M axim um
F ro n t E n d Weight at G ro u n d ” an d “ M axim um R ear E nd
W eight a t G ro u n d ” indicates the m axim um perm issible loading
or w eight a t the ground regardless o f spring or axle capacity
ratings. These ratings are developed on th e basis o f the
m inim um co m p o n en t capability be it axles, springs or tires.
In loading the vehicle, th e com bined fro n t an d rear end
weights a t th e ground m ust n o t exceed th e GVW specified for
the vehicle as m anufactured.
In trailer hauling applications, th e vehicle rear end w eight at
th e ground w ith trailer a ttac h ed m ust n o t exceed the
“ M axim um R ear E nd Weight a t G ro u n d ” rating o f th e vehicle.
A typical exam ple o f a T ruck in a loaded co n d itio n is
show n in Figure 5. N ote th a t th e axle or GVW capabilities are
n o t exceeded.
