E NG IN E FUEL 6M-8
IN S TA LLA TIO N
1. Be certain th ro ttle bo d y and intake m anifold sealing
surface are clean.
2. Install new carb u re to r to m anifold flange gasket or
insulator (as required).
3. Install carb u reto r over m anifold studs or holes.
4. S tart vacuum and fuel lines at carb u reto r.
5. Install attach in g n u ts an d /o r bolts and tighten securely.

. T ighten fuel lines and install vacuum lines securely.
7. C onnect an d adjust accelerator and TV linkage.

. C onnect C.E.C. Valve (L-

) electrical wiring and attac h
vacuum lines.
9. C onnect idle stop wiring connector to solenoid.
10. C onnect choke coil rod.
11. Install air cleaner, adjust curb idle and low idle speeds per
decal. (See specifications for C.E.C. valve adjustm ent,
i d l e s t o p so le n o id adjustm ent and idle m ixture
a d ju stm e n t; also, “ A dditional external settings and
adju stm en ts.” )
FUEL F ILTE R M A IN TEN A N C E
1. D isconnect fuel line connection at inlet fuel filter nut.
2. Rem ove in le t fuel filter n u t from carb u reto r w ith a box
w rench or socket.
3. R em ove filter elem ent and spring (Fig. K4).
4. Check paper elem ent by blow ing on fuel inlet end. I f
filter does n o t allow air to pass freely, replace elem ent.
N o a tte m p t should be made to clean filters.
N O T E : Elem ent should be replaced if plugged or if
flooding occurs. A plugged filte r w ill result in a loss
o f engine power or rough (pulsating) engine feel,
especially at high engine speeds.
5. Install elem ent spring, and install elem ent in carburetor.
Bronze filters m ust have small section o f cone facing o u t.

. Install new gasket on inlet fitting n u t and install n u t in
carb u reto r and tighten securely.
7. Install fuel line and tighten connector.
