WARNING
To prevent bodily injury from the fall of a raised reel, always engage the reel safety props before going under the
raised reel for any reason.
WARNING
Ensure that all bystanders have cleared the area.
NOTE:
There are two methods for checking the auger drive chain tension: the quick method is intended for frequent checks; the
thorough method (refer to
Checking Feed Auger Drive Chain Tension
) is more accurate and
should be used when the auger drive chain is reinstalled or replaced.
1.
Start the engine. For instructions, refer to the combine operator
’
s manual.
2.
Lower the header fully.
3.
Raise the reel fully.
4.
Shut down the engine, and remove the key from the ignition.
5.
Engage the reel safety props. For instructions, refer to
Engaging Reel Safety Props, page 37

Rotate auger (A) by hand in the reverse direction until it
cannot turn anymore.
7.
Mark a line (B) across the drum and bottom cover.
