4. CHECKING, DISASSEMBLING AND SERVICING

[1] CHECKING AND ADJUSTING

Toe-in

1. Inflate the front tyres to the specified pressure.
2. Turn the front wheels straight ahead, and measure the toe-in

(

).

3. If the measurement is not within the factory specifications,

charge the tie-rod length to adjust.

IMPORTANT

• After adjusting the toe-in, secure the tie-rod with the lock

nut.

Front Axle Rocking Force

1. Jack up the front side of machine and remove the front wheel.
2. Set a spring balance to the front axle kingpin (3).
3. Measure the front axle rocking force.
4. If the measurement is not within the factory specifications,

adjust as following.

Adjusting procedure

1. Remove the split pin (2). Push and pull the kingpin (3) with a

push pull gauge.

2. Tighten or loosen the adjusting nut (1) so that the measurement

of rocking force comes to factory specifications.

3. If the slot and pin hole do not meet, align the nut until they do

meet within factory specifications.

4. Install the new cotter pin.

(When reassembling)

• Be sure to split the cotter pin like an anchor.

(Reference)

• Tightening torque of adjusting nut :

20 N·m (2.0 kgf·m, 14 lbf·ft)
