Remove the 50 Ohm BNC termination resistor from the aircraft Maintenance Panel LAN Bus
connector.
3.3.2
Connect one end of the BNC coaxial cable (included in the LAN kit) to the aircraft Maintenance Panel
LAN Bus connector.
3.3.3
Connect the other end of the BNC coaxial cable to the Ethernet converter switch (included in the LAN
kit).
3.3.4
Connect the Ethernet converter switch and the laptop computer with the Ethernet cable (included in
the LAN kit).
3.3.5
Connect the Ethernet converter switch to a power source with the USB cable or use the power supply
included in the LAN kit.
3.4
Option C2: 10 Mbit LAN Connection, using the LAN Kit LTEPIC-25 (Pt.No. T45-020)
If the aircraft is pre SB 45–007 or MSN 1001 to 1341, and the Wireless Data Loading System option
is not installed, the aircraft Maintenance Panel has only one BNC connector marked LAN Bus and no
RJ-45 connectors.
3.4.1
Make sure that the PCMCIA network adaptor card (included in the LAN kit) is inserted in the laptop
computer PCMCIA card slot.
3.4.2
Make sure that the PCMCIA network adaptor card is configured, refer to AMM 12-B-45-45-00-00A-
330A-A.
3.4.3
Remove the 50 Ohm BNC termination resistor from the aircraft Maintenance Panel LAN Bus
connector.
3.4.4
Connect one end of the BNC coaxial cable (included in the LAN kit) to the aircraft Maintenance Panel
LAN Bus connector.
3.4.5
Connect the other end of the BNC coaxial cable to the BNC dongle adaptor (included in the LAN kit).
3.4.6
Connect the BNC dongle adaptor to the PCMCIA card in the laptop computer.
3.5
Start the laptop computer and make sure that Windows is running correctly.
3.6
Energize the aircraft electrical system, refer to AMM 12-B-24-00-00-00A-901A-A.
3.7
Wait 5 minutes for the aircraft systems to stabilize.
3.8
On the laptop computer start the CMC Remote Terminal software, and make sure that the CMC
welcome message is shown.
Note
At start-up the CMC Remote Terminal software must show version 5.3 or higher, and Dataload version
7.1.2 or higher.
3.9
The laptop computer is now ready to be used for maintenance actions.
4
Problems with Connecting to the Aircraft
4.1
If you see the message shown in Fig. 1 , the LAN connection to the Central Maintenance Computer
(CMC) cannot be made or has failed. This may be due to:

use the correct IP address
FTP server on the CMC failed
de-energize then energize aircraft electrical system
CMC software corrupt
restart computer, check software installation
Note - The LAN may take up to 5 minutes to start after power up.
