Test Of The Propeller Balance
4.2.1
Start the engine, refer to AMM 12-B-71-00-00-00A-901A-A.
4.2.2
Set the PCL to GROUND IDLE.
4.2.3
Make sure the propeller input cables are connected to the VELO 1 and MAG PU A connections on the
Vibrex 2000 unit.
4.2.4
Set the Vibrex 2000 unit to ON.
Note
The unit automatically does a Built-In-Test (BIT) when set to ON.
4.2.5
Set the main menu display to Propeller Balance.
4.2.6
Set the main menu display to Continue Balance Session.
4.2.7
Use the keypad and enter the aircraft information (optional).
4.2.8
Make sure that “Channel 1A” is shown on the display, if not, set Channel 1A with the applicable
context key.
4.2.9
Push the START key on the unit.
4.2.10
Set the engine horsepower to 601-1000 hp with the context key, then push the START key.
4.2.11
Monitor the note on the display, when the RPM is stable, push the START key.
4.2.12
When the unit has collected the data, push the START key.
4.2.13
Make a record of the indications shown on the screen on the Propeller Balance Chart B, then push the
START key.
4.2.14
Move the PCL to give a torque indication of approximately 35 psi at maximum rpm.
Note
Use the same torque value on all subsequent checks.
4.2.15
Monitor the note on the display, when the RPM is stable push the START key.
4.2.16
When the unit has collected the data, push the START key.
4.2.17
Make a record of the indications shown on the screen on the Propeller Balance Chart B, then push the
START key.
4.2.18
If the screen shows NOT ACCEPTABLE (more than 0.2 IPS), push the START key.
4.2.19
Stop the engine, refer to AMM 12-B-71-00-00-00A-901A-A.
4.2.20
Compare the IPS indications between idle and 35 psi torque:
If the difference is more than 0.4 IPS, remove the propeller and check the blade angles (Refer to
Technical Publication Hartzell CMM 61-10-16).
Note
There can be a large error in the track of the propeller blades with a very small error in the angle that
they are set to.
4.2.21
If the IPS indication from the check is 0.2 IPS or less, the balance is acceptable.
4.2.22
CAUTION
A MAXIMUM OF TEN WASHERS WEIGHING UP TO 45,0 g (1.6 oz) MAY BE INSTALLED AT
ANY SINGLE HOLE IN THE SPINNER BULKHEAD.
If the balance is not acceptable:
