Put the module Figure 1 [2] in approved ESD-protective packing.

Use ESDS procedures to remove the module Figure 1 [2] from the aircraft.
3
Installation
3.1
Make sure that all electrical power is removed from the aircraft:
3.1.1
De-energize the aircraft electrical system, refer to AMM 12-B-24-00-00-00A-901A-A.
3.1.2
Put warning notices at the overhead control panel in the flight compartment and at the External Power
Unit (EPU) connector, ‘DO NOT CONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER’.
3.2
Visually examine the module slot in the MAU Figure 1 [1] and make sure that it is free of unwanted
objects.
3.3
CAUTION
USE AN ESD WRIST STRAP AND CONNECT IT TO GROUND ON THE MAU BEFORE YOU
INSTALL THE MAU OR ITS COMPONENTS.
Install the applicable module Figure 1 [2] as follows:
3.3.1
CAUTION
DO NOT TOUCH THE CIRCUIT BOARD OR THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR PINS ON THE
MODULE.
Remove the module Figure 1 [2] from its ESD-protective packing and hold it tightly by its jack screws
Figure 1 [5].
3.3.2
Remove the protective covers from the module connectors.
3.3.3
Align the module Figure 1 [2] in its MAU slot with the direction of its reference arrow the same as
recorded in Removal Step 2.4.1.
Note
will not operate if its reference arrow points in the opposite direction to the

3.3.4
Make sure that the edges of the module Figure 1 [2] are correctly aligned with the upper and lower slot
guides in the MAU Figure 1 [1].
3.3.5
Carefully push the module Figure 1 [2] in its slot until the jack screws Figure 1 [5] engage with the
MAU Figure 1 [1].
3.3.6
CAUTION
THE MODULE AND MAU WILL BE DAMAGED IF YOU TIGHTEN THE JACK SCREWS ON A
MISALIGNED CARD, OR IF YOU DO NOT TIGHTEN THE JACK SCREWS GRADUALLY AND
EQUALLY.
Turn the jack screws Figure 1 [5] gradually and equally clockwise until the module Figure 1 [2] is
installed in its MAU slot and torque to 42 lbf in (4,75 Nm).
3.4
Install the backshell Figure 1 [7] on the module Figure 1 [2] as follows:
3.4.1
If applicable, remove the protective cover from the backshell Figure 1 [7].
3.4.2
Engage the backshell hook Figure 1 [6] on the module Figure 1 [2].
3.4.3
Move the backshell Figure 1 [7] in the direction of the top of the module Figure 1 [2] until the curved
alignment pin Figure 1 [9] engages with the module Figure 1 [2].
3.4.4
Continue to move the backshell Figure 1 [7] until the captive bolts Figure 1 [8] engages with the
module Figure 1 [2].
3.4.5
Turn the captive bolt Figure 1 [8] clockwise to a torque of 32 lbf in (3,6 Nm).
3.5
Before you install the MAU Figure 1 [1]:
3.5.1
Do the applicable Target Load procedure for the module that you have installed, refer to AMM 12-B-
45-45-00-00A-550A-A.
