2.1.13
Set each decade resistance box to 91.7 Ohms (equivalent to -21 °C) or each OAT simulator to -21 °C.
2.1.14
Open the access panel 12QZ.
2.1.15
Connect the Maintenance box (Pt.No. T45-005) to the maintenance panel.
2.1.16
Set the maintenance box AIR/GND switch to GND.
2.1.17
Energize the aircraft electrical system, refer to AMM 12-B-24-00-00-00A-901A-A.
2.2
Procedure
Note
Two persons are required to do these procedures.
Note
The CAS PROPELLER DE ICE caution message has a time delay of 20 seconds from when the ICE
PROTECTION PROPELLER switch is set to ON.
2.2.1
Turn the propeller by hand until instructed to stop.
2.2.2
Set the ICE PROTECTION PROPELLER switch to ON.
2.2.3
Check the outboard and the inboard sectors on all five blades are heated.
2.2.4
On the lower MFD make sure that:
−
The CAS PROPELLER DE ICE caution message comes ON
−
The ICE PROTECTION window PROPELLER green caption is OFF.
2.2.5
Make sure that the propeller de-ice boots do not heat after the system self test is complete (after
approximately 20 seconds).
Note
Propeller de-ice heating is inhibited when the aircraft is on the ground and the engine is not running,
except during the system self test.
2.2.6
Set the maintenance box AIR/GND switch to AIR for no longer than 10 seconds.
2.2.7
On the lower MFD make sure:
−
The CAS PROPELLER DE ICE caution message is off
−
The ICE PROTECTION window PROPELLER green caption is ON.
2.2.8
Use your hand to make sure that all five de-ice boots are heated on the outboard sector.
2.2.9
Set the ICE PROTECTION PROPELLER switch to OFF.
2.2.10
Set the maintenance box AIR/GND switch to GND.
2.2.11
Stop turning the propeller.
2.2.12
De-energize the aircraft electrical system, refer to AMM 12-B-24-00-00-00A-901A-A.
2.2.13
If the test is not successful, refer to the fault isolation procedure given in AMM 12-B-30-60-00-00A-
420B-A.
2.2.14
If all the outboard sectors, or all the inboard sectors do not feel warm by touch during this procedure,
inspect the brush block connections and the propeller mounted de-ice components as detailed in the
Hartzell Component Maintenance Manual 180 and 181.
2.2.15
Do the close up procedure.
3
