Obey these safety precautions when work is done on fuel systems:
1.2.1
Use only clean clothing, tools and equipment.
1.2.2
Install clean blanking plugs on all openings.
1.2.3
Remove unwanted jointing compound and sealant while they are wet.
1.2.4
If work is done in the fuel tank clean the work area before the fuel tank is closed.
1.3
The Prevention of Fuel Leaks
Fuel leaks can cause fire, damage and deterioration to the aircraft structure and components. Fuel
leaks from fuel tanks that are part of the aircraft structure are not easy to find. Repairs to the fuel tank
are difficult and take a lot of time.
Obey these safety precautions when work is done on fuel systems:
1.3.1
Do not cause damage to the fuel tank sealant when work is done in fuel tanks.
1.3.2
Replace all seals and gaskets at joints that are disconnected or changed. New seals and gaskets
must be lubricated with Grease (Pt.No. P04-030).
1.3.3
Replace all seals and gaskets when a component is removed or an access panel is opened. Replace
all seals and gaskets that are possibly unsatisfactory.
1.3.4
When you disconnect or remove the pipes do not twist or bend them. It is usually necessary to loosen
or disconnect the two ends of a pipe to remove one end from a connection.
1.3.5
Obey these safety precautions when a pipe is installed or connected:
1.3.5.1
Make sure that the pipe is installed in the correct position and the pipe ends align and are at 90
degrees to the connections.
1.3.5.2
Make sure that the pipe ends touch the connections correctly and the pipe is not misaligned.
1.3.5.3
Use spanners on the pipe end and the connection when the pipe is tightened.
1.3.5.4
Tighten each end of the pipe in equal steps to the correct torque.
1.3.5.5
Tighten the pipe end to the standard torque if no special value is given.
1.3.5.6
Do not tighten a pipe end to a higher torque if there is a fuel leak from the connection at the correct
torque. Find the cause of the fuel leak.

Attach a Warning sign (DO NOT CONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER) (Pt.No. Local supply) to the
aircraft.
2.1.7
Put the Warning sign (FUEL LINES OPEN) (Pt.No. Local supply) around the aircraft.
2.2
Close-up After Work on the Fuel System.
