Procedure
1
General
This data module gives the procedure to do an operational test of the propeller de-ice system. The
operational test is necessary:
−
If required for scheduled maintenance
−
If these parts have been removed/installed:
●
Propeller
●
Brush block module
●
Metal Oxide Varistor (MOV) module
●
Outside Air Temperature (OAT) sensor
●
Propeller de-ice controller
●
Modular avionics unit.
The fault isolation procedure for the propeller de-ice system is given in AMM 12-B-30-60-00-00A-
420B-A. The fault isolation procedure is necessary when:
−
A PROPELLER DE ICE caution is present
−
You think there is incorrect operation.
2
Operational Test Of The Propeller De-Ice System
2.1
Preparation
2.1.1
Make sure that the ICE PROTECTION PROPELLER switch is set to OFF.
2.1.2
Make sure that the area around the propeller is clear of objects.
2.1.3
Open and install a Safety clip - Circuit breaker hold open (Pt.No. T12-030) on this circuit breaker:
−
STARTER (ESSENTIAL BUS).
2.1.4
Open the engine cowling 43AR.
2.1.5
Remove the lockwire and disconnect plug A030P1 from the propeller de-ice timer A030 and connect
the Propeller de-ice test set (Pt.No. T30-010) between the timer and the aircraft wiring.
2.1.6
Make sure that all the jumpers are installed on the propeller de-ice test set.
2.1.7
Remove jumpers
D
,
E
and
F
from the propeller de-ice test set.
2.1.8
Connect a Decade resistance box (Pt.No. Local supply) or an OAT simulator (Pt.No. T30-005)
between sockets
D
and
E
, identified as “→ DE-ICE TIMER” on the propeller de-ice test set.
2.1.9
Install a jumper between socket
E
and
F
, identified as "--> DE-ICE TIMER" on the propeller de-ice test
set.
Note
The output (B) from the OAT sensor is spliced and goes to the Prop De-Ice Timer
E
and
F
.
2.1.10
Remove jumpers
G
,
H
and
J
from the propeller de-ice test set.
2.1.11
Connect a Decade resistance box (Pt.No. Local supply) or an OAT simulator (Pt.No. T30-005)
between sockets
G
and
H
, identified as “→ DE-ICE TIMER” on the propeller de-ice test set.
2.1.12
Install a jumper between socket
H
and
J
, identified as "--> DE-ICE TIMER" on the propeller de-ice test
set.
Note
The output (B) from the OAT sensor is spliced and goes to the Prop De-Ice Timer
H
and
J
.
