Procedure
1
General
This document gives the procedure to replace the striker plates. The new striker plates have a
different contour that makes the last part of the shoot bolt motion easier. There is also a selection of
three striker plates with different bolt hole positions available for each location.
1.1
Job Set Up
1.2
Open the passenger/crew door.
1.3
If necessary, remove the passenger/crew door trim panel, refer to AMM 12-B-25-21-03-00A-920A-A or
12-B-25-22-03-00A-920A-A.
2
Removal
2.1
For striker plate Figure 1 [2] or Figure 1 [9], remove one bolt Figure 1 [4] from the hole position
Figure 1 [5] or Figure 1 [10].
2.2
Put a piece of Lockwire (0,6 mm diameter) (Pt.No. P02-007) through the applicable bolt hole or install
an applicable tool.
Note
An applicable tool can be made from four long bolts with their heads cut off and a screwdriver slot made
across the shanks. These bolts are then installed in the nut plate as each striker plate bolt is removed.
2.3
Remove the second bolt Figure 1 [4] from the applicable striker plate Figure 1 [2] or Figure 1 [9].
2.4
Do Step 2.1 thru Step 2.3 again to remove the two bolts Figure 1 [3] from the striker plates.
2.5
Remove and discard the striker plates.
2.6
If necessary, do Step 2.1 thru Step 2.5 again to remove the opposite striker plates Figure 1 [2] and
Figure 1 [9].
Note
The checks done to find the cause of the high hand force and to identify the striker plates
or
to be replaced are done in the adjustment/test of the passenger/crew door, AMM
. Most frequently this will be the lower pair, nearest to the door hinge. It is
recommended not to replace more than one pair of striker plates at a time.
3
Installation
3.1
Note
The four bolts that attach the striker plates have two different lengths, the longer bolts
on
the outboard side, the shorter bolts
Do an inspection of the bolts Figure 1 [3] and bolts Figure 1 [4] for signs of damage or corrosion, if you
find damage discard and replace the bolts.
