Procedure

Removal
Note
It is not necessary to remove the elevators when you remove and install the horizontal stabilizer.
1.1
Open and install a Safety clip (Circuit breaker hold open) (Pt.No. T12-030) on these circuit breakers:
−
PITCH TRIM (ESSENTIAL BUS)
−
PITCH TRIM ALTN (MAIN BUS)
−
BOOTS DE-ICE (MAIN BUS).
1.2
Put the Warning sign (DO NOT MOVE THE ELEVATOR CONTROLS) (Pt.No. Local supply) in the
flight compartment.
1.3
Remove the access panels 32BT, 32CT, 33DT (upper and lower), 33ET and 34DT (upper and lower).

If necessary, remove the elevators, refer to AMM 12-B-55-20-01-00A-920A-A.

Loosen the clamp Figure 1 [7] and disconnect the de-icing tube Figure 1 [8] from the pipe
Figure 1 [12].

Install the Sling (Pt.No. Local supply) on the stabilizer Figure 1 [1] and connect the sling to a
Hoist (Pt.No. Local supply).

Hold the stabilizer Figure 1 [1] with the hoist.
1.10
Remove the bolt Figure 1 [15], washer Figure 1 [14] and bonding lead Figure 1 [13] from the stabilizer
Figure 1 [1].
1.11
Remove the nut Figure 1 [26], washer Figure 1 [25] and bolt Figure 1 [23]. Disconnect the control rod
Figure 1 [24] from the lever Figure 1 [22].
