1.12
Remove the nuts Figure 1 [16] and Figure 1 [17] and bolts Figure 1 [19] and Figure 1 [20] and
disconnect the stabilizer Figure 1 [1] from the stabilizer trim actuator Figure 1 [18].
1.13
Remove the cotter pins Figure 1 [5], nuts Figure 1 [4], washers Figure 1 [6], bolts Figure 1 [2] and
washers Figure 1 [3] from the stabilizer Figure 1 [1].
1.14
Use the hoist to carefully remove the stabilizer Figure 1 [1] from the structure.
1.15
CAUTION
DO NOT APPLY SOLVENT TO THE PITCH TRIM ACTUATOR BEARING AND RAM.
Use a Cloth, cotton (Pt.No. P02-019) made moist with Solvent (alcohol) (Pt.No. P01-011) to clean the
stabilizer trim actuator Figure 1 [18].
1.16
Use a Cloth, cotton (Pt.No. P02-019) made moist with White Spirit (Pt.No. P01-008) to clean
the stabilizer trim actuator attachment on the stabilizer Figure 1 [1], the nuts Figure 1 [16] and
Figure 1 [17] and the bolts Figure 1 [19] and Figure 1 [20], refer to AMM 12-B-20-40-00-00A-901A-A.
1.17
Use a Cloth, cotton (Pt.No. P02-019) made moist with White Spirit (Pt.No. P01-008) to clean the
vertical stabilizer attachment on the stabilizer Figure 1 [1], the nuts Figure 1 [4], the washers
Figure 1 [6] and the bolts Figure 1 [2], refer to AMM 12-B-20-40-00-00A-901A-A.
2
Installation
2.1
Hold the stabilizer Figure 1 [1] in position on the structure with the hoist and sling.
2.2
Align the bolt heads and install the bolts Figure 1 [2] in the stabilizer Figure 1 [1].
2.3
Use a feeler gauge to measure the axial movement of the stabilizer in the structure.
2.4
Install the correct thickness Washer Figure 1 [3] as necessary to remove the axial movement.
Note
between the structure and the left part of each stabilizer hinge.
2.5
Install the washers Figure 1 [6], nuts Figure 1 [4]. Tighten the nuts Figure 1 [4] sufficiently to fully install
the bolts. Loosen the nuts Figure 1 [4] and torque to a maximum of 2,0 Nm (17.7 lbf in). Safety the
nuts Figure 1 [4] with a new Cotter pin Figure 1 [5].
2.6
Use CPC (Pt.No. P10-013) to protect the horizontal/vertical stabilizer attachments and fasteners.
2.7
Make sure that the bushes are correctly installed in the forward stabilizer attachments.
Note
There is a top hat bush installed from the inside of the stabilizer right attachment and a straight bush
installed in the left attachment.
2.8
Connect the stabilizer trim actuator Figure 1 [18] to the stabilizer Figure 1 [1]:
2.8.1
Apply Grease (Pt.No. P04-004) to the shaft and threads of the failsafe bolt Figure 1 [20] and the bolt
Figure 1 [19].
2.8.2
2.8.3
Measure the run-down torque of the nut Figure 1 [16].
2.8.4
Install the bolt Figure 1 [19] and nut Figure 1 [17].
2.8.5
Measure the run-down torque of the nut Figure 1 [17].
2.8.6
CAUTION
DO NOT OVERTORQUE THE FAILSAFE BOLT. EXCESSIVE FORCE MAY CAUSE
STRUCTURAL DAMAGE.
Torque the nuts Figure 1 [16] and Figure 1 [17] to 1,0 Nm (8.85 lbf in) plus the applicable run-down
torque.
