Configuring Async Pads
13-19
Bandw. Alloc. Group
is a method of prioritizing outgoing traffic over trunks. Each IP and IPX network
interface, SVC Subscriber, and PVC is assigned to a bandwidth allocation group
defined by a
Percent of Bandwidth
value (
1–100
) and a
Priority
(
0–9
) specified in the
Network Defaults file. (See "
Bandwidth Allocation Groups for Trunks
" on page 4-8.)
When configuring priorities, be careful to consider the types of
traffic being routed on other connections in the node.
1st,2nd,etc. Routing Path
assigns ports to the subscriber's routing paths group.
1st,2nd,etc. Redirected Sub No.
is a subscriber that will be called according to the specified redirection option.
Configuring Abbreviated Addresses
The Abbreviated Address operation allows you to assign a short name or mnemonic
to be used in place of the subscriber ID when making X.25 calls from a terminal con-
nected to an async PAD port.
The format for sending a Call Request packet using an abbreviated address
is described on
page A-2
.
To add or change an abbreviated address, press
[B]
then
[C]
at the Connections and
Routing Paths Configuration Menu. (or
[A], [F], [B],[C]
from the Main Menu) When
prompted, enter:
●
the address you want to use, up to 10 alphanumeric characters.
●
an existing subscriber ID (only if this is a new record).
Wildcards are not valid here. If you are creating an abbreviated
address for a subscriber ID that contains wildcards, substitute real
characters for the wildcards. (For example, subscriber ID
21345678
is
a match for
ID 21*78
in the Subscriber file.).
When Changes Take Effect
When you add a new Abbreviated Address record, the change will be written to the
database as soon as you enter the final parameter value. When you modify a parameter
in an existing record, the change will be written to the database instantly.
The change will become effective as soon as the next call is placed. (The change will
not affect a call in progress.)
