Telephone Number Parameters
Explanations of some of the parameters follow the table.
Modem Pool ID
is specified in the Modem Initialization file . (See page 7-10.)
Line Speed Code
is the data transmission rate, in bits per second. This parameter is also specified in Port
records, and the value in the Telephone Number record must match that on any ports
through which the subscriber will call the node. Line speed codes are:
3 = 75 4 = 150 5 = 300 6 = 600 8 = 2400
9 = 4800 10 = 9600 11 = 19.2K 12 = 48K 13 = 56K
14 = 64K 15 = 72K 16 = 112K 17 = 128K 18 = 224K
19 = 256K
Alternate Node 1–6
Alternate nodes handle call routing if the primary node is inoperative. For an outgoing
call, if the primary node is not available, the list is searched, and the call is routed to
the first available node. When the call is successfully placed, the database record is
automatically changed to replace the existing Node ID with the ID of the node through
which the call was connected.
For an incoming call, if the primary node is not available, the subscriber calls another
node, and that node becomes the new primary node in the Telephone Number record.
It is recommended that when a Telephone Number record is created, Alternate Node 1
be the same as Node ID . This way, if the primary node goes down, is replaced, then
comes back up, it will be the first alternate if the new primary goes down.
