File Transfer
This operation should be performed only under the direction of
a system administrator or service representative.
This operation lets you transfer a file between any two ICPs/INMsNMPs. The transfer
does not have to be initiated from either of the two devices involved.
Do not use this operation to update database files.
(See “Database Concurrency Operations” on page 19.)
Press
[E]
at the Operations Menu (or
[B], [E]
from the Main Menu). When prompted,
enter:

Source node ID. (Pressing
[Enter]
selects the local node.)
●
Source file name, including any necessary path names.
●
Destination node ID. (Pressing
[Enter]
selects the local node.)
●
Destination file name. (Pressing
[Enter]
specifies the source file name.)
If this file is to replace a file at the destination, you should give it a dif-
ferent name until a successful transfer has been verified. The old file
can then be deleted and the new one renamed.
File transfer can take several minutes; however, you do not have to wait for the oper-
ation to end. If you want to perform other operations, press
[F3]
to return to the
Operations Menu. When the file transfer operation is complete, a message will be sent
to your printer. If the transfer is not successful, one of the following self-explanatory
messages will tell you why:
Transfer already in progress
Source file ID error
Destination Node not active
Destination file ID error
Destination does not respond
Since files cannot be deleted remotely, periodic on-site file maintenance should be
performed to delete old files.
