Configuring X.25

When Changes Take Effect
When you add a new PVC record, the change will be written to the database as soon
as you enter the final parameter value. When you modify a parameter in an existing
record, the change will be written to the database instantly.
The virtual connection will be established when the nodes at both ends undergo
re-IPL. If you want to establish a connection without disrupting node operation, create
an identical PVC on line. Press
[D]
at the Operations Menu (or
[B], [D]
from the Main
Menu) and enter the requested information, noting the values in Table 10-5. (This is
described in greater detail under "
Creating/Deleting a PVC On Line"
on page 9-20.)
PVC Parameters
Explanations follow the table. Note that parameters labeled in a record as Primary or
Secondary identify each end of the connection. (It does not matter which end is
which.)
1
Logical channels must be lower than the lowest LCNs assigned to any subscribers on the
ports in a PVC record.
2
16, 32, 64,128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048
,
or
4096
. Cannot be greater than the smaller
Maxim um Packet Size
specified in the Port records for both ends of the connection.
3
Cannot be greater than the smaller
Maxi mum Window Siz
e specified in the Port records
for both ends of the connection.
Bandw. Alloc. Group
is a method of prioritizing outgoing traffic over the trunk. Each IP and IPX network
interface, SVC Subscriber, and PVC is assigned to a trunk allocation group defined by
a
Percent of Bandwidth
value (
1–100
) and a
Priority
(
0–9
) specified in the Network
Defaults file. (See “
Configuring Bandwidth Allocation Groups
” on page 8-2.)
Primary/Secondary Logical Channel
is a logical link between the node and each subscriber. The physical line may have a
number of logical channels. An LCN assigned to a port in a PVC record must be lower
than the lowest LCN specified for any SVC subscriber on the same port.
