Configuring Async PAD Profiles
An async PAD profile is a specific set of X.3 parameters whose values define the oper-
ation of the async device. Different profiles comprise the same parameters, but with
some difference(s) in the values.
Profile names are specified in two files:
Async PAD Logins
(see page 13-8) and
Port Configuration
(see page 13-10). If the async subscriber is required to log in (as
determined in the Port record), the profile in the Logins record will become effective
at login; if login is not required, the profile in the Port record will be used.
Two CCITT standard profiles, listed below, exist in the database when the FRX8000
software is shipped to the customer. If neither is suitable for your application, you can
create a new one.
STD90
– CCITT simple profile, used for connecting terminals to the PAD. This is
the default profile in the FRX8000 software.
STD91
– CCITT transparent profile, used for connecting hosts to the PAD.
Changing a value in a profile in effect creates a new profile.
Unless you want to affect every device assigned that profile,
create a new profile instead of changing an existing one.
Do not
change profile 90 or 91.
When creating a new profile, be careful that you are not creating
a duplicate of an existing profile. When assigning a profile to a
port, the software scans the parameters of the specified profile
and all other existing profiles, and if there are duplicates, it loads
the profile that was created first.
To add or change a profile, press
[C]

again from the Network Selection Menu
(or
[A], [A], [C], [C]
from the Main Menu). When prompted, enter:

Profile name, up to ten characters.
