7.17 REPLACING I-MARK/ EDGE SENSOR
The I-Mark/ Edge sensor assemblies may need replacement if cleaning does not improve their functionality.
1.
Before proceeding, switch off the printer and remove the main cover, left housing cover and the top left
housing cover to gain access to the internal (electrical and mechanism) hardware. Refer to
Section 7.1
Removal of Housing cover
for details.
2.
Unscrew five
screws
to detach the
Main (CONT) PCB bracket
from the printer frame. Refer to
Section
7.6 Replacing Torque Limiter (Ribbon Unwinder)
for details.
3.
Turn the purple
head lock lever
to release the
printer head
, press the tab of the purple
pitch sensor
guide
and slide it out.
To replace Edge sensor (upper) board
4.
Under the
print head assembly
, remove the
screw
(1) securing the
Upper Edge sensor assembly
(2) to
the printer frame.
5.
From the mechanism side of the printer, disconnect the
wiring harnesses
of the
Upper Edge sensor
assembly
(2) and carefully remove the
Upper Edge sensor assembly
(2) from the
print head assembly
side.
6.
Remove the
tight screw
(3) on the
Upper Edge sensor assembly
(2) and remove the
Sensor holder
cover
(4).
7.
Remove and replace the defective
Upper Edge sensor board
(6) from the
Sensor holder
(5).
8.
Reverse the above procedures for reassembly.
9.
Insert the wiring harness firmly.
10.
After replacement, adjust the Edge sensor condition based on
Section 6.9.4 Edge Sensor Sensitivity
