6.9 ADJUSTING AND CHECKING SENSORS (Cont’d)
To calibrate the Side hole sensor level with the potentiometer
NOTE:
Measure the sensor level directly in the
Maintenance
mode only. This is because the sensor
protection (measurement to prolong operating life) is enabled in the
ONLINE
mode.
These checking activities require the use of a multimeter and may be performed with or without the assistance
of the
SATO Test Module
.
1.
Remove the side cover to reveal the
Main PCB (CONT board)
. Please refer to
step 2
and
3
of
Section
6.2 Checking the Direct-Current Power Supply
.
2.
When using the optional Test Module for checking,
connect the optional
Test Module
to the
CHK
connector as shown above. Set the digital multimeter to direct-current voltage mode. Connect
[+]
probe to
“SIG”
and
[-]
probe to
“GND”
of
Test Module
. Turn the dial to
“7”
.
If Test Module is not available,
connect
[+]
probe of the multimeter to “
CH4B
” and
[-]
probe to “
CH1A
” of
the
CHK
connector as specified below.
3.
To adjust low level (side hole), ensure no tag is loaded to the printer and then use the microdriver to adjust
the
S.HOLE
potentiometer (
VR7
) until the sensor level shows
+0.6V
or below on the multimeter.
4.
To adjust high level (tag), load the tag to the side hole sensor.
Press the purple
Lid Latch lever
to open the hinged
Lid Latch
. Then, physically position the tag rests
over the
side hole sensor
and adjust the
media guide
to the tag size. Lower and lock the
Lid Latch
.
5.
Use the microdriver to adjust the
S.HOLE
potentiometer (
VR7
) until the sensor level shows
+2.6V
or more.
6.
If you are having difficulty adjusting the sensor properly, clean the sensor and check the connector connec-
tion. If the problem persists, replace the sensor.
Table of normal performance values:
Low level (without media/ hole area):
+0.6V or below
High level (with tag/ print area):
+2.6V or above
