6.9 ADJUSTING AND CHECKING SENSORS (Cont’d)

When using the optional Test Module for checking,
connect the optional
Test Module
to the
CHK
connector as shown above. Set the digital multimeter to direct-current voltage mode. Connect
[+]
probe to
“SIG”
and
[-]
probe to
“GND”
of
Test Module
. Turn the dial to
“6”
.
If Test Module is not available,
connect
[+]
probe of the multimeter to “
CH3B
” and
[-]
probe to “
CH1A
” of
the
CHK
connector as specified below.

To adjust low level (without tag / jump hole), ensure no tag is loaded onto the printer and then use the
microdriver to adjust the
J.HOLE
potentiometer (
VR10
) until the sensor level shows
+0.6V
or below on the
multimeter.
8.
To adjust high level (tag), load the tag to the Jump hole sensor.
9.
Use the microdriver to adjust the
J.HOLE
potentiometer (
VR10
) until the sensor level shows
+2.3V
or
more.
10.
If you are having difficulty adjusting the sensor properly, clean the sensor and check the connector
connection. If the problem persists, replace the sensor.
Table of normal performance values:
Low level (without media/ Jump hole area):
+0.6V or below
High level (with tag):
+2.3V or above
