6.9 ADJUSTING AND CHECKING SENSORS (Cont’d)

Press the
/ arrow
buttons to adjust the sensor level to
0.5V
or below and press the
FEED
button.

Re-position the media, with the I-Mark of the media rests over the I-Mark sensor.
Note:
To stabilize the sensor level, make sure the print head assembly is locked and the media is threaded cor-
rectly.

Confirm the new sensor level (I-Mark portion) to see if the difference between high level (I-Mark portion)
and low level (blank media) is
0.9V
or more.
6.
Press the /
arrow
buttons to switch to SLICE LEVEL adjustment screen. Press the
/ arrow
buttons
to adjust the slice level. Setting the slice level to
0.0V
enables automatic setting. The slice level can be set
within the range of
0.0V
to
3.2V
. Save changes by pressing the
FEED
button.
To calibrate the I-Mark sensor level with the potentiometer
NOTE:
Measure the sensor level directly in the
Maintenance
mode only. This is because the sensor
protection (measurement to prolong operating life) is enabled in the
ONLINE
mode.
These checking activities require the use of a multimeter and may be performed with or without the assistance
of the
SATO Test Module
.

Remove the side cover to reveal the
Main PCB (CONT board)
. Please refer to
step 2
and
3
of
Section
6.2 Checking the Direct-Current Power Supply
.

When using the optional Test Module for checking,
connect the optional
Test Module
to the
CHK
connector as shown. Set the digital multimeter to direct-current voltage mode. Connect
[+]
probe to “
SIG
”
and
[-]
probe to “
GND
” of
Test Module
. Turn the dial to “
4
”.
If Test Module is not available,
connect
[+]
probe of the multimeter to “
CH1B
” and
[-]
probe to “
CH1A
” of
the
CHK
connector as specified above.
3.
Disengage the
Head lock Lever
and the
Lid Latch
to allow media loading. Physically position the media,
with the blank media (label/tag) rests over the I-Mark sensor.
Note:
To stabilize the sensor level, make sure the print head assembly is locked and the media is threaded cor-
rectly.
4.
Use the microdriver to adjust the
IM
potentiometer (
VR5
) until the sensor level shows
+0.5V
or below on
the multimeter.
