DM/2HU5 (used for populating each 2.5 HU shelf slot)
Make sure the appropriate dummy modules are readily available for installation.
Dummy modules are normally delivered with the shelf pre-installed. If neces-
sary, dummy modules can be re-ordered.
Front Cover
Make sure that the front cover for each 7HU shelf and 9HU shelf is readily avail-
able for installation. If mounted, it protects the fiber-optic connectors of the mod-
ules against external influences and prevents the fibers from being pulled out
inadvertently.
Power Cables
Two power cables are provided with one 9HU shelf, 7HU shelf, or 1HU shelf.
Depending on the PSUs that are installed in the shelf, there it can be two AC
power cords, two DC power cords 16AWG, two DC power cables 14 AWG, or
10 AWG or a mix of AC and DC power cables (7HU shelf only). Make sure the
appropriate power cables are readily available for installation. The cable
requirements are described in
Chapter 3: Power Cable Requirements
.
Earthing Kit
The earthing kit can be used to earth a 9HU shelf, 7HU shelf or a 1HU shelf to
the rack. One earthing kit can earth one shelf. The earthing kit is delivered with
the equipment. For details, refer to the
Hardware Description
, Appendix A.
Serial and Ethernet Cables
To connect management modules you need a serial null modem cable or a USB
cable and Ethernet cables, depending on the type of connection. The cable
requirements are described in the
Chapter 3: Serial Cable and Ethernet Cable
. These cables can be delivered with the equipment, but must be
ordered separately.
IEEE 1394 Interface Cable
To connect a 40CSM/2HU-#Dxx-#Dyy and a 40CSM/2HU-#19595-#19205 to
the PSCU or the 9HU shelf, a IEEE 1394 interface cable
(IC300/PSCU/IEEE1394) is required. This cable is delivered along with the
40CSM/2HU-#Dxx-#Dyy and 40CSM/2HU-#19595-#19205.

The AC and DC power cable sets are available with the equipment,
but they have to be ordered separately. For more information about
these cables, refer to the
