(Power B).
Repeat this procedure for each 9HU shelf mounted in the rack.
End of Procedure
Connecting the
DC Power Cables to a SH7HU-R
It is assumed that the person performing this task knows standard electrical wir-
ing and connection practices, are familiar with power supplies, and are aware of
the precautions that should be taken to avoid personal injury and damage to
equipment.
Tools and Parts Required
•
Two power cables of the proper type, length, area of conductor and wire ter-
minals which belong to the specific shelf (one for Power A and one for
Power B)
The cables are not provided by ADVA Optical Networking.
•
Torx screwdriver TX10 for the fixing screws on the protective covers of the
power input connectors
•
Phillips crosstip screwdriver size1 or screwdriver for slotted head screws
sized 1mm x 5mm for the terminal screws
•
Appropriate screwdriver or spanner
for the terminal screws of the DC power
source, e.g. a PDU
This equipment should be present on site before beginning the connecting pro-
cedure.
The power cables can be connected to the power input connectors located on
the rear side of the 7HU shelf.
To connect a DC power cable follow these steps:
Procedure
Step 1
Find the physical location of the 7HU shelf in the rack which is to be
connected to the external power source.
Step 2
Determine which power supply unit is to be connected first
(e.g. Power A) and find the physical location of the associated termi-
nal block on the rear panel.
Step 3
Select the appropriate cable set, and verify:
a) the cable length is correct for connection between the power
source and the shelf;
b) the wires on both ends of this cable are assembled with the
proper terminals;
c) the terminals are in good order and they are securely fixed to the
wire ends.
