Observe the following general safety precautions:

It is assumed that you are familiar with ESD-prevention precautions that should 
be taken to avoid ESD damage to the equipment.

Main Steps for Installation

The installation procedure is accomplished in ten main steps:

Procedure

Step 1

Attach the adaptor brackets and the handles to the THC. 

Step 2

Attach the adaptor brackets to the OTH. 

Step 3

Mount the THC unit and OTH unit in a rack.

CAUTION

Only Service Personnel are allowed to perform the OTDR installation 
procedures.

WARNING

The OTDR is intended to be earthed. Ensure that both the THC and
OTH units are connected to earth ground during normal use.

WARNING

Insert the power cable plug into a power outlet with a protective 
ground contact. Do not use an extension cord without a protective 
conductor.
Any interruption of the protective grounding is a potential shock 
hazard and may cause personal injury. Whenever the ground 
protection is impaired, do not use the unit and secure it against any 
accidental operation.
Do not tamper with the protective ground terminal.

WARNING

If you need to ensure that the THC and OTH units are completely 
turned off, disconnect the power cables.

CAUTION

Do not install or terminate fibers while a light source is active.
Never look directly into a live fiber and ensure that your eyes are 
protected at all times.

Risk of damage due to electrostatic discharge!
Ensure that you are earthed with a wrist strap or equivalent while 
installing the THC and OTH units.
