Always remove the shelf and its single electrostatic-sensitive parts from
their ESD protective packaging at a static-safe work area only.
In the simplest case, a static-safe work area must at least consist of a dissi-
pative mat, a wrist strap for each person and a common grounding facility
for both, e.g. Earth Bonding Points.
•
Immediately remove secondary packaging material, such as polyethylene
bags, cardboard boxes, etc. from the work area as they can be the source of
electrostatic charge.
•
Always place the shelf on a dissipative surface or a static dissipative mat to
inspect it visually for damage or to prepare it for mounting into the rack.
•
Handle the shelf by edges only. Avoid touching any exposed contact pins or
connector shells of interface ports that do not have a cable attached.
•
Never remove a module from the shelf unless you are personally earthed.
•
Do not hold the shelf or a module against your clothing. Even if you are
wearing a wrist strap, your body is earthed but your clothes are not!
•
Do not stack shelves or modules on top of each other.
•
Always be properly earthed, when adding, removing or replacing modules.
Use an ESD kit (anti-static-discharge wrist strap, wrist cord, static dissipa-
tive mat) at a grounded work area when handling modules.
•
Before connecting any interface cables, earth yourself to dissipate any
static charge you may be carrying.
•
Place reusable shelves or electrostatic-sensitive modules in anti-static
packing material, when transporting or storing them.
•
Do not use brushes with synthetic bristles or acid brushes to clean the shelf.

1HU shelf, 7HU shelf and 9HU shelf Shipments
Each 1HU shelf and 7HU shelf (SH7HU) shipment consists of one equipment
packaging which will be shipped with the standard items and the accessories
listed in the following table. A 1HU equipment shelf shipment may include a
SH1HU-F/2DC, SH1HU/2DC, SH1HU-HP/2DC or SH1HU-R shelf.
The 9HU shelf (SH9HU) is delivered without the CEM/9HU and the fan mod-
ules. Therefore, the SH9HU shipment may consist of multiple packages.
