6. Maintenance of optical components
6.1 General guidelines and additional
equipment
All maintenance work on optical components must only be carried
out when the machine has been switched off:

Do not remove more than one optical component at a time from the
machine. Only dismantle and remount the mirrors individually and
in succession.
Warning
Invisible, high-energy laser radiation!
Danger can arise from both direct and reflected laser radiation.
Severe skin burns and injuries to eyes can occur. Resulting in
damage to eyesight or even complete blindness.

Turn off the MAIN SWITCH, lock it and remove the key.
General guidelines The utmost cleanliness and the greatest care are imperative when
handling optical components. A clean environment, a clean work
place, and clean additional equipment are absolutely essential.
•
All work involving the removal, installation, and cleaning of
optical components, as well as adjusting of the laser beam,
which may be necessary after cleaning, may only be carried out
by trained personnel.
•
All work involving the removal, installation and cleaning of
optical components should be performed in clean rooms and
not in the vicinity of the machine itself.
•
Cover all exposed maintenance areas on the machine’s beam
guideway with aluminum foil.
•
Mirrors and lenses must be placed on a soft and lint-free
surface for cleaning. Make sure your hands are clean and/or
wear lint-free gloves.
•
Handle the mirror carefully: even being set down hard can lead
to lasting deformations in the very soft copper mirrors. The
bearing area on the edge must not be damaged. Never grasp
the mirror surface (front and rear sides) with your fingers.
•
Only use the additional equipment listed.
