CONNECTION AND FUNCTION CHECK OF
ELECTRIC MOTORS
1. Connection
If the electrical motors are not correctly connected according to
the supply voltage and to the motor rating plate, damage or loss
of capacity may occur. Electric motors are connected either in
Y-mode (star) or in D-mode (delta) depending on the supplied
voltage.
We have over the last year received an increased number of
reports regarding burned electric fan motors. The motors often
burned during the first start-up. There are reasons to belive that
the damage is caused by wrong connection of the links in the
terminal block in the connection box of the motor.
Today we receive motors from our suppliers not only winded for
280/380 volt.
We have also received a number of burned motors from fre-
quency controlled fans. It is important to know that the setting
is based on a calculation that will utilize the motor to max per-
mitted output. Also an increase of frequency by a few Hz may
overload the motor.

any guarantee or responsibility for motors damaged by wrong
connection or wrong converter settings.

It is of greatest importance that motors are con-
nected according to the data sign on the motor.
Read the sign and connect accordingly.
