LEVELLING THE GC RAILS
Experience has shown that the life time for components such as
rails, balls, roller chains etc. is lengthened by an accurate
levelling the FRIGoDRIVE
®
rail.
The different methods
There are three methods that you can use when levelling the
rails:
• The optical transit/theodolite and rulers.
• The “hose and bucket”-method.
• The laser beacon method.
Note!
Always be as accurate as possible when you level the rails.
Note!
All rails should be levelled with a theodolite before the belt is
installed. All rails should also be levelled when the belt is
installed. This levelling can not be done with a theodolite but with
“hose and bucket” method.
Theodolite
The theodolite method is the most accurate one but it can not
be used once you have the belt and the enclosure in position.
“Hose and bucket”
The “hose and bucket” is more work intensive since you have to
hold both the hose and the ruler.
Laser beacon
To measure inside the enclosure with the belt stack in position,
a LASER beacon radiating a visible red light beam can be used.
The beacon is rotating, giving you a self levelled horizontal ref
-
erence from which you can measure with a tape or ruler.
Calculating correct level of the rail.
If the drawing “Check list” for the rail levelling is not at hand,
calculate correct levels as follows.
1. Use the belt transfer point as a zero reference.
2. Calculate the correct level of the rail accordingly.
Link height
Elevation / Stand =
Number of stands
3. Draw a graph showing the correct elevation.
4. Mark the actual elevation.
The tolerance for these levels
related to the belt transfer
point
is ±1 mm.
