The multimeter shows more than 500 k
Ω
at all three phases.
You have no earth fault in the motor or the cable to the motor.
Continue according to step 2, example 2.
Step 2, Resistance in motor
Disconnect the connection links on the motor’s connection
terminal. Check that the cables are correctly connected and that
the screws are tightened.
Measure between L1-PE, L2-PE and L3-PE according to illus-
tration 6a.
Example 1
The resistance is less than 500 k
Ω
between L1-PE. The resist-
ance between L2-PE and L3-PE is greater than 500 k
Ω
. There
is an earth fault the cable phase L1 or in winding L1 in the mo-
tor.
Example 2
The resistance is greater than 500 k
Ω
at all three measure-
ments. There is no earth fault in the motor or in the cable.
Measure between L1-L2, L1-L3 and L2-L3.
The resistance between L1-L2 is less than 500 k
Ω
. L1-L3 and
L2-L3 is greater than 500 k
Ω
. There is a short-circuit in the
cable or between the windings L1-L2.
Continue according to step 3, example 2.
Step 3, resistance in cable
Disconnect the cable from the motor connection terminal. Make
sure that the 4 conductors does not come in contact with each
other.
Example 1
Measure between L1-PE, L2-PE and L3-PE according to illus-
tration 6a.
The resistance between L1-PE is less than 500 k
Ω
. The resist-
ance between L2-PE and L3-PE is greater than 500 k
Ω
. There
is an earth fault in conductor L1 in the cable. Exchange the
cable.
Example 2
Measure between L1-L2, L1-L3 and L2-L3.
All measurements now show more than 500 k
Ω
. There is a
short-circuit between winding L1-L2. The motor should be ex-
changed.
