A-1-3. Starting from RS-232C FDL Menu

1. Entering menu No. 99 at the FDL menu

Insert Download Tape is displayed on the RS-232C terminal.

Insert Dnld Tape is also displayed on the LCD.

2. Inserting the download tape

Insert the download tape. When inserted, GY-2120 automatically starts reading the tape.

Dnld Read is displayed on the LCD.

After reading, the LCD changes to “Dnld Read OK”.

When inserting the special download tape, check that the rec-proof tab of the cassette is indented (this

means that the cassette is rec-prohibited).

If the tape inserted is not the special download tape, it will automatically be ejected.

.

If an error occurs while reading the download tape, “Dnld Read NG” is displayed on the LCD, the tape

is then automatically ejected.

3. Displaying the downloaded firmware version

When tape reading completes, each CPU firmware version will be displayed on the RS-232C terminal as

shown in the following example.

4. Writing in the flash memory

Following the firmware version, the following will be displayed.

Download from tape (about [Q] yes [Y] ) =>

Entering “y” or “Y” here starts writing in the flash memory.

The LCD displays “Now Downloading” first, followed by “Download xx CPU” (xx indicates the CPU

type).

When all writing completes, the tape will automatically be

ejected, and GY-2120 returns to the normal operation mode.

To abort downloading, enter “q” or “Q”.

This will automatically eject the tape and return to the prompt of the FDL menu.

When writing is started by entering “y” or “Y”, never turn off the power until the tape is ejected.

.

GY-2120 automatically reboots up to twice until the tape is ejected and the process is completed. Take

note that even if rebooted, it does not mean that the process has ended until the tape is ejected.

.

It takes up to 8 minutes for the tape to be ejected and all processes to be completed after starting

writing.

.

If “y” or “Y” is entered accidentally, continue pressing the UNLOAD button while “Now Download-

ing” is displayed on the LCD. GY-2120 automatically reboots, and returns to the normal mode. Howev-

er as the tape will not be automatically ejected in this case, press the EJECT hole and eject the tape.
