4. At the shelf being discontinued and all associated terminating
shelves and extensions, ensure service (signals) has been
removed from the function groups being discontinued.

Discontinue DS3 Service [System Turnup: NTP-012]
Discontinue EC-1 Service [System Turnup: NTP-036]
Discontinue HDSL Service [System Turnup: NTP-017]
Discontinue LAN Service [System Turnup: NTP-032]
Discontinue T1 Interface [System Turnup: NTP-052]
5. What Release of software is installed in the system?
If Release 15 software is installed, continue with Step 6.
If Release 13 software is installed, proceed to Step 7.

NOTE:
The Remote NE Status (
rnestat
) parameter of the
set-ne:
command must be enabled prior to designating
the AGNE(s) and alarm group numbers.
NOTE:
The
set-ne:
command also designates a shelf as an
alarm gateway network element (AGNE). Shelves may be
assigned an alarm group number (default alarm number is
255). At least one AGNE is required per alarm group. One
primary AGNE and one backup per alarm group is
recommended. For a network greater than 16 nodes, the
AGNE and TL1 GNE should be on separate nodes.
NOTE:
It may take several minutes for the network to stabilize after
the AGNE has been changed.
If a shelf being discontinued is an AGNE, use the
set-ne:tid:agne=yes
command to establish the AGNE on
another shelf, if required. Use the
set-ne:tid:agne=no
command to disable the AGNE at the shelf being removed.
