8. The VAR Router can read the number of EOL resistors on the loudspeaker line, and suggest this as the
correct figure by assuming no faults are present. However it is recommended to edit manually the
number of EOL resistors according to the installation to avoid an incorrect setting.

Note:
In these VAR Router screen displays the number of EOL resistors is referred to as ‘spurs’. This
is because there must be an EOL resistor at the end of every spur on the loudspeaker circuit.
However improved fault reporting can be obtained on long loudspeaker lines by fitting EOL
resistors at regular intervals in long single runs. Therefore there may be more EOL resistors
than spurs.

The automatic updates to the VAR Router LCD screen occur at a slow rate of about every
50 seconds, due to the time taken for the surveillance boards to take these readings.

b. Pressing the SELECT key will load the number of EOL resistors calculated into the DC line
surveillance ‘spurs’ variable, and return to the ‘Line Surveillance’ menu which will display that
number of EOL resistors.
Surveyed [Spurs=3] Read
10. To edit, move to the ‘Spurs’ field and scroll it until the required value is displayed.
Surveyed [Spurs=00] Read
Default value:
‘00’
Possible slots: ‘00’ to ‘10’ EOL resistors
Note:
The maximum value for ‘spurs’ is 10, as no more than 10 EOL resistors can be used on one
amplifier.
11. Commission the amplifier with the selected number of EOL resistors by pressing the SELECT key, or
cancel by pressing the BACK key.
The system will return to the parent menu after 3 seconds on pressing the SELECT key, or immediately
by pressing the BACK key.
Note:
Once commissioned the selected mainframe will use the new commissioned limits for fault
detection.
