DVA Input Configuration

The VAR Router includes digital storage for up to twelve Digital Voice Announcer (DVA) messages. Theser
are in two types: Long DVA messages (32 seconds) and Short DVA messages (16 seconds):

•

VAR4: 2 x Long DVAs and 2 x Short DVAs

•

VAR12: 4 x Long DVAs and 4 x Short DVAs

•

VAR20: 6 x Long DVAs and 6 x Short DVAs

The following table summarises the configurable input parameters, and indicates those parameters available
for the DVA inputs with a tick (

). Each parameter configuration is described in the following sections.

There is no equalisation (EQ) adjustment for DVA inputs, however the DVAs can be recorded
with the required equalisation settings.

8.1

DVA Input Gain Configuration

It is possible to define the “input” gain to be applied to a DVA this will affect all outputs to which it may be
routed, as described in the following steps.

2. Scroll the DVA input list until the required DVA is displayed:

Default value:

DVA input 1

Possible DVAs: VAR4: EVAC 01 to EVAC 02 (inputs 1 to 2, long DVA)

TEST 01 to TEST 02 (inputs 3 to 4, short DVA)

VAR12: EVAC 01 to EVAC 04 (inputs 1 to 4, long DVA)

TEST 01 to TEST 04 (inputs 5 to 8, short DVA)

VAR20: EVAC 01 to EVAC 06 (inputs 1 to 6, long DVA)

TEST 01 to TEST 06 (inputs 6 to 12, short DVA)

3. Move to, and select the

Gain

menu item:

Pri Class [Gain] O/pGains Name

4. Scroll the input gain values until the required value is displayed:

[Gain(dB)=-20]

Default value:

‘–20’

Possible values: –63dB to 0dB (1dB steps)

Note:

The input gain of each audio input should normally be set so that all inputs are balanced, and

give the same output level on each of the outputs.

Note that this adjustment works in real time, so it can be experienced immediately on any live
routes.

5. Save the changes by pressing the SELECT key, or cancel by pressing the BACK key.
