5.9.4 Password
Control
Configuration
The host system connected to the VAR Router requires knowing the VAR Router’s access code, without this
the VAR Router will not respond to commands from the host. Therefore it is possible to inhibit changes to the
access code from the VAR Router’s front panel in order to prevent a user from inadvertently stopping the
host system from working.
It is also possible to configure whether or not a warning message will be shown when the access code is
changed from the VAR Router’s front panel. This message warns the user to change the host passwords, if
required.
In order to configure how the password modification is controlled proceed as follows.

2. Move to, and toggle to the required password control option in the left field:
[Set:Menu and Host] Warning Message:Off

Set:Menu and Host
It is possible to change the access code from the VAR Router front panel and from the host.

Set:Host Only
It is possible to change the access code from the host only.
Default value:
‘Set:Menu and Host’
3. Move to, and toggle to the required warning message option in the right field:
Set:Menu and Host [Warning Message:Off]

Warning Message:Off
No message displayed.
•
Warning Message:On
‘Remember to change host passwords if applicable’ is displayed when access code is changed.
Note:
It is important to set this option if a host system is connected to the VAR Router and the
access code can be modified through the VAR Router front panel.
Default value:
‘Warning Message:Off’
4. Press the SELECT key to proceed, or cancel by pressing the BACK key.
