DVA Input Emergency Class
The emergency class is used to control the VAR Router’s Remote Fault Output when configured for
‘Emergency DVA Active Indicator’ as follows:
•
The output is activated if an emergency audio input, e.g. ALERT or EVACUATE DVAs, is routed to an
output.
•
The output is not activated if all outputs are routed to non-emergency audio inputs, e.g. Paging
Microphone or music, or are not routed.
See Section “
5.8 Remote Fault Output Configuration
” for further details.
When the VAR Router is networked, the Emergency Class is used by the ACU to drive the red and green
LED of zone select buttons on the ACU’s front panel and on Fire Microphones connected to the ACU as
follows:
−
The red LED is turned ON continuously if any output in the group configured for the button is connected
to an input that has been configured as a High Priority Emergency source.
The green LED is turned ON continuously.
−
The red LED flashes ON and OFF repeatedly if any output in the group configured for the button is
connected to an input that has been configured as a Low Priority Emergency source, and no output in
the group is connected to a High Priority Emergency source.
The green LED is turned ON continuously.
−
The red LED is turned OFF if any output in the group configured for the button is connected to an input
that has been configured as a Non Emergency Priority source, and no output in the group is connected
to a High or Low Priority Emergency source.
The green LED is turned ON continuously.
−
The red LED is turned OFF if all outputs in the group configured for the button are not connected to any
input.
The green LED is turned OFF.
This is used to indicate the emergency DVA message status of the zone group configured for a zone select
button on the ACU’s front panel and Fire Microphones connected to the ACU, as described in
Table 10
. This
is achieved by setting the appropriate Emergency Class to each of the VAR Router inputs, as described in
the following procedure.

From ACU V1.5.0114 or later, it is possible to configure a microphone connected to an ACU
between the mode described above and the standard mode. In the standard mode the
Emergency Class does not affect the behaviour of the LEDs with the red LED turning ON
continuously to indicate that the zone (either one or more of the group of zones controlled by
this button) is already in use by another input, and the green LED indicating the zone selection
state. Please refer to the Audio Control Unit’s Commissioning and Operation Guide for further
details.
