What this document describes:
This document describes features added or changed with the version 4.34.1 and some general information.
If you have any version other than 4.33, you are not up to date on features and possible settings required by any
version(s) that was never installed. Refer to documentation for all skipped versions to familiarize yourself with
their new features and do any special setup required by those versions.
Also, if your machine's version is 4.10 through 4.17, you MUST first install 4.18. If your machine's version is
prior to 4.10 you MUST first install BOTH 4.10 and 4.18.
A note about PC DOS:
You should be using IBM's PC DOS 2000, or PC DOS 7.0 with Fixpak, to use this release. (PC DOS 2000 is
PC DOS 7.0 with Y2K upgrades. Typing VER <ent> at the DOS prompt shows "PC DOS 7.0 Revision 1".)
If you have PC DOS 7.0 that is not upgraded, Fixpak DOS7USY2.EXE is available from IBM's web site.
IBM has a general name (possibly useful for searching) of DOS7Y2K related to this.
This Fixpak is at ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/ps/products/dos/fixes/dos7.0/year2000/ (as of this date).
If you use another version of PC DOS, you may have problems related to memory availability or Y2K issues.
If the 6DS-SP software does not run or start properly, check your version of DOS.
A note about RAMBoost (part of PC DOS 2000):
When the software starts, you will see a message for several seconds regarding RAMBoost. Also, if RAMBoost
is being used for the first time, you may see what appears as two boot-ups. This may take several minutes.
Do not interrupt any of this boot-up. Just let the computer and software start automatically.
Please read "IMPORTANT GENERAL INFORMATION" on the next page.
A detailed description of software installation starts on page 13 of this document.
