Strasbaugh Confidential Information
Detection of Failure to Home:
Version 4.34 adds a means to detect if a servo controller board (DCX board) fails to home.
(Homing is also called referencing.)
During machine startup, homing sequences are downloaded to the DCX boards. These
sequences are automatically run on the DCX boards with the 6DS-SP waiting for them to
finish.
Previously, the "referenced" indication could show on the screen even if the actual homing
didn't occur due to absent or corrupt homing sequences on a DCX board or a possibly
defective DCX board.
Now, each homing sequence is checked to verify it occurred. If any has a problem, alarm 125
"DCX HOMING MACRO FAILURE (abort clears)" will show.
If this alarm is seen, a homing macro instruction was probably not successfully downloaded
to a DCX board during software startup or a DCX board may be defective.
For technicians: If a homing error occurs, register 125 "DCX Homing ERR" will display the
axis number that failed to home. Pressing Alt-R when in the Diagnostic menu will show
registers.
Alarm Buzzer with GEM Host Message Waiting:
Version 4.34 adds turning on the alarm buzzer when a Host message is waiting. This buzzer
will sound whether or not the machine is in screen idle or wet idle.
Acknowledging the message will silence the buzzer caused by the message received. (If an
alarm is occurring, the buzzer will continue to sound due to that alarm.) The "Message from
Host" indication now has a last line that notes this as shown below. (This is the indication
that, when a message is received, shows at the bottom right of the screen in the area normally
used for life counters and timers.)
MESSAGE FROM HOST
Press Alt-V to View.
Acknowledge message
in GEM menu to
clear this notice and
silence the buzzer.
