6DS-SP Software Ver 4.23.1

Version 4.23 adds support for carriers with optional mechanical latches. All ViPRR carriers
for the 6DS-SP must have these latches because vacuum is not available to hold the carriers
to the spindles. Non-ViPRR carriers, which use vacuum to hold the carriers, may optionally
have these latches to prevent carrier dropping if vacuum is lost.
Calibration variable 200 "Carrier latches (0-no,1-yes)" must be set to "1" for latched carriers.
NOTE: Some carriers may have spring loaded latches with parts that protrude higher than
the carrier top surface. These parts can mechanically interfere with the spindle quill ball in
some machine configurations during bridge and shuttle moves while the carriers are resting
on the load stations. If your carrier/machine combination has this possible interference,
orient the scribed line on the carriers as shown before loading or unloading carriers.
Latched carrier loading or unloading is a three step procedure because the operator must latch
or unlatch the carriers midway through the sequence. The following are the procedures:
Carrier loading:
1) Press the "Load Carrs" choice. The carrier loading sequence will start and the "Load
Carrs" choice will become disabled. The sequence will proceed until the spindles are
down with vacuum pulling the carriers tight to compress the o-rings.
The prompt line will show "Latch carriers, close doors, press 'Load Carrs' to finish."
and the "Load Carrs" choice will again become enabled. (The screen saver will not
start so long as this message shows.)
2) Open the left polish door, latch the carriers, and close the polish door.
3) Press "Load Carrs" again and the carrier loading sequence will finish.
Notes:
An unlatched carrier will be left on the load station.
For non-ViPRR carriers, once the spindles raise, vacuum will be applied to hold the
carrier in addition to the latches.
