Do not start the
engine.
Wrap a shop towel
around the
attachment to soak
up any spilled fuel.
3. Make sure the connection is secure and th a t the
pawls are firm ly locked in to place; check vis u a lly
and by pu llin g the connector.
4. Make sure the ru b b e r cap is in place (between
the retainer tab and sto p p e r on pipe).
5. Connect the fuel p u m p 3P (Bleck) connector.
6. Turn the ig n itio n sw itch OK and engine stop
sw itch "O ” .
The fuel pum p w ill run fo r about 2 seconds, and
fuel pressure w ill rise.
Repeat 2 or 3 tim e s, and check th a t there is no
leakage in the fuel s u p p ly system.
Install the seat (page 3-4).

Relieve the fuel pressure and disconnect the quick
connect fittin g (page 6-37).
Attach the fuel pressure gauge, attachm ent and
m anifold.
TOOLS:
(1):Fuel pressure gauge

(5): Attachm ent joint, 8 m m /9 m m 07ZAJ-S7C0200
Connect the fuel pum p 3P (Black) connector.
Start the engine and let it idle.
Read the fuel pressure.
STANDARD: 343 kPa (3.5 k g f/c m 2, 50 psi)
If the fuel pressure is h igher than specified, replace
the fuel p u m p assem bly (fa u lty fuel p u m p o r fuel
pressure regulator).
If the fuel pressure is lo w e r than specified, inspect
the fo llo w in g :
- Fuel line leaking
- Pinched o r clogged fuel feed hose or fuel tank
breather hose
- Fuel pum p (page 6-41)
A fter inspection, relieve the fuel pressure by sta rt
ing the engine and let it idle until it stalls.
Remove the fuel pressure gauge, atta ch m e n t and
m anifold fro m the fuel pum p.
Connect the quick connect fittin g (page 6-38).
