FUEL SYSTEM (PGM-FI)
D TC 53-1 (T C M S IG N A L )
• Before starting the inspection, check fo r loose or
p o o r contact on the TCM 33P (Black) connector
and recheck the DTC.
1. TCM Signal Line Open C ircuit Inspection
Turn the ig n itio n switch OFF.
D isconnect the ECM 33P (Light gray) connector
and TCM 33P (Black) connector.
Check fo r c o n tin u ity between the ECM 33P (Light
gray) connector o f the w ire harness side and
TCM 33P (Black) connector o f the w ire harness
side.
CONNECTION: B 3 0 -A 1 7

TOOL:
Test probe
A re there co n tin u itie s ?
YES - GO TO STEP 2.
NO - Open c ircu it in B row n w ire.
2. TCM Signal Line S h o rt C ircu it Inspection
Check th e c o n tin u ity between the TCM 33P
(Black) connecto r o f the w ire harness side and
ground.
CONNECTION: A17 - Ground
TOOL:
Test probe

Is there c o n tin u ity ?
YES - S hort c irc u it in B row n w ire
NO - GO TO STEP 3.

3. TCM Inspection
Replace the TCM w ith a new one.
Reset the DTC (page fi-13).
Turn the ig n itio n switch ON and engine stop
sw itch " Q
Recheck the DTC.
Is th e DTC 53-1 indicated?
NO - Faulty o rig in a l TCM.
YES - Replace the ECM w ith a new one, and
recheck.
