FUEL SYSTEM (PGM-FI)
SERVICE INFORMATION
GENERAL
• Before disconnecting fuel feed hose, relieve pressure fro m the system by disconnecting the quick connect fittin g ir the
fuel pump (page 6-37).
• Bending or tw istin g the c o n tro l cable w ill im p a ir sm ooth o peration and could cause the cable to stick o r bend, resulting
in loss of vehicle control.
• Work in a well ve n tila te d area. S m oking o r a llo w in g flam es or sparks in th e w o rk area o r w here gasoline is stored can
cause a fire or explosion.
• Do not snap the th ro ttle valve fro m fu ll open to fu ll close after the th ro ttle cable has been rem oved. It m ay cause incor
rect idle operation.
• Seal the cylinder head intake p o rt w ith tape o r 3 clean cloth to keep d irt and debris fro m entering the intake p o rt after
the throttle body has been rem oved.
• Do not damage the th ro ttle body. It m ay cause incorrect th ro ttle valve.
• Prevent dirt and debris fro m entering the engine, clean the th ro ttle bore and fuel r‘eed hose w ith com pressed air.
• I he throttle body is fa c to ry pre-set. Do n ot disassem ble in a w ay other than show n in th is m anual.
• Do not loosen o r tig h te n the w h ite painted bolts, nuts and screw s o f the th ro ttle body.
• A faulty PGM-FI system is often related to poorly connected o r corroded connectors. Check those connectio ns before
proceeding.
• The VS sensor sends d ig ita l pulse signal to the ECM and com p u ta tio n . Refer to procedures fo r VS sensor inspection
- DTC troubleshooting (page 6-15)
• When disassembling the PGM-FI parts, note the location o f the O -rings. Replace them w ith new ones upon reassembly.
• Use a digital tester fo r PGM-FI system inspection.
• For fuel level sensor inspection (page 22-17).
