Opens and S ho rts
"Opens" and "Shorts" a re c o m m o n electrical te rm s . A n o pen is a break in a w ire o r et a co n n e c tio n . A s h o rt is an accidental
connection o f a w ire to g ro u n d o r to a n o th e r w ire In s im p le e lectro nics, th is u s u a lly m e a n s s o m e th in g w ill n o t w o rk at all.
With ECMs this can s o m e tim e s m e a n s o m e th in g w o rks, b u t n o t th e w a y it's su pp o sed to.

SELF-DIAGNOSIS S Y S T E M
The HFT system in clu d es a fa il-s a fe fu n c tio n to secure a m in im u m ru n n in g c a p a b ility even w h e n th e re is tro u b le in th e sys
tem. W hen a n y a b n o rm a lity is d e te c te d by th e s e lf-d ia g n o s is fu n c tio n , ru n n in g c a p a b ility is secu red b y using n u m erical
values preset in advance in the program map. Il musl be remembered, however, that when any abnormality is detected in
the EOP sensor, N /D s o le n o id v a lv e , e n g in e sp eed in p u t line, T C M in p u t v o lta g e circuit, N /D select s w itc h , a n d /o r neutral oil
pressure sw itch, th e fa il-s a fe fu n c tio n stops th e e n g in e a n d shifts to n e u tra l to p re v e n t th e m o to rc y c le fro m a b ru p t a n d
unexpected m o v e m e n t.

the TCM w ith th e H D S p ocket tester.

- DTC 08 - 1 = (TP sen sor v o lta g e ) - (lo w e r th an th e s p ecified v a lu e )
- DTC 08 - 2 = (TP sen sor v o lta g e ) - (h ig h e r th an th e s p ecified v a lu e ).
