Turn the ig n itio n sw itch OFF.
Remove the b olt, w asher and disconnect the
EOP sw itch w ire.
Turn the ig n itio n switch ON and engine stop
sw itch " Q ".
Check the c o n tin u ity between the EOP sw itch
w ire and ground.
CONNECTION: Blue/Red - G round
Is there b a tte ry voltage?
YES
- Inspect the EOP sw itch (page 5-14).
NO
- Open c ircu it in Blue/Red w ire.

ECT SENSOR INSPECTION
Remove the ECT sensor (page 6-65).
Suspend the ECT sensor in a pan o f co o la n t (1:1
m ixtu re ) on an electric heating elem ent and m ea
sure the resistance th ro u g h the sensor as the c o o l
ant heats up.
NOTE:
• Soak the ECT sensor in co o la n t up to its threads
w ith at least
4 0 m m (1.57
in) fro m the b o tto m of
the pan to the b o tto m of the sw itch.
• Keep te m perature constant fo r 3 m in u te s before
testing. A sudden change o f te m p e ra tu re w ill
result in in co rre ct readings. Do n ot let the th e r
m o m e te r o r ECT sensor touch the pan.
Replace the ECT sensor if it is o u t o f specification by
m ore than 10% at any tem perature listed.
