An alphabetical w eight code is stamped on the cap.
If a connecting rod requires replacement, you
should select a rod w ith the same w eight code as
the original.

NOTICE

bea rin g o il clearance m a y n o t be obta in e d , resulting
in e ngine damage.
BEARING INSPECTION
Remove the crankshaft (page 13-6).
Clean off any oil from the bearings.
Check the bearings fo r unusual wear, damage or
peeling and replace them if necessary.
Measure the main journal bearing I.D. at between
the bearing groove and crankcase outer side end of
the bearing, and 90 degrees to the index mark.
