FRONT WHEEL/SUSPENSION/STEERING
BEARING RACE REPLACEMENT
NOTE:
Always replace the bearirgs and races as a set.
Remove the upper bearing outer race using the spe­
cial tools.
TOOLS:
Ball race remover 07953-M J10000 or
07953-MJ1000B
(U.S.A. only)
Remove the lower bearing outer race using the spe­
cial tool and suitable shaft.
TOOL:
Ball race remover 07946-3710500
Driver shaft 07949-3710001
Install the stem nut ontc the stem to prevent the
threads from being damaged when removing the
lower bearing inner race.
Remove the lower bearing inner race w ith a chisel
or equivalent tool, being careful not to damage the
stem.
Remove the dust seal.
Apply specified grease to a new dust seal lip.
Install a new dust seal onto the steering stem.
Press a new lower bearing inner race using a special
tool and hydraulic press.
