• Before starting the inspection, check fo r loose or
poor contact on the TP sensor 3P (Black) connec
to r and recheck the DTC.
1. TP Sensor S ystem Inspection
Turn the ig n itio n sw itch ON and engine stop
switcn " Q
Check the TP sensor w ith the HDS pocket tester
w hen the th ro ttle fu lly closed.
Is a b o u t 0 V in d ic a te d ?
YES
- • In te rm itte n t failure
• Loose o r poor contact on the TP sen
sor connector
NO
- GO TO STEP 2.
2. TP Sensor In p u t V o lta g e Inspection
T urn :he ig n itio n sw itch OFF.
Remove the air cleaner housing (page 6-50).
Disconnect the TP sensor 3P (Black) connector.
Turn the ig n itio n sw itch ON and engine stop
switch " Q
Measure the voltage at the w ire harness side.
C onnection: Y ellow /red (+) - G reen/orange (-)
Is th e vo lta g e w ith in 4.75

5.25 V ?
Y E S

GO TO STEP 4.
NO
- GO TO STEP 3.

3. TP Sensor C ircu it Inspection
Disconnect the ECM 33P connectors.
Check fo r c o n tin u ity at the Y ellow /red w ire
between the TP sensor 3P (Black) connector te r
m inal and the ECM 33P (Black) connector.
Connection: A9 - Y ellow /red
TOOL:

Is there c o n tin u ity ?
YES
- Replace the ECM w ith a known good
one, and recheck
NO
- Open circu it in Y ellow /red w ire
4. TP Sensor O u tp u t Line Open C ircuit Inspection
Check fo r c o n tin u ity at the Red/yellow w ire
between the TP sensor 3P (Black) connector te r
m inal and the ECM 33P (Light gray) connector.
Connection: B31 - R e d /ye llo w
