S tart engine by fo llo w in g norm al procedure.
Does th e engine s ta r t then s to p s ?
YES - • Leaking intake m anifold
• Faulty IACV
• Im p ro p e r ig n itio n tim in g (Faulty ECM, CKP sensor or CMP sensor)
• C ontam inated fuel
ENGINE LACKS POWER
1. Engine Oil Inspection
Check oil level and co n d itio n .
Is there co rre ct le v e l a n d g o o d co n d itio n ?
NO - • Oil level to o high
• Oil level to o lo w
• C ontam inated oil
YES - GO TO STEP 2.
2. Drive Train Inspection
Raise wheel o ff the g ro u n d and spin it by hand.
Does the w h e e l s p in freely?
NO - • Brake d ra g g in g
• W orn o r dam aged wheel bearings
• Final gear bearing dam aged
YES - G O TO STEP 3.
3. Tire Pressure Inspection
Check tire pressure.
A re the tire pressures lo w ?
YES - • Faulty tire valve
• Punctured tire
NO - GO TO STEP 4.
4. Engine Perform ance Inspection
Accelerate lig h tly.
Does th e engine speed increase?
NO - • D irty air cleaner
• Restricted fuel flo w
• Clogged m u ffle r
• Clogged fuel tank breather
YES - GO TO STEP 5.
5. Spark Plug Inspection
Remove and inspect spark plugs.
Is th e spark p lu g fo u le d o r discolored?
NO - • Plugs n o t serviced fre q u e n tly enough
• Incorrect spark plug heat range
YES - GO TO STEP 6.
6. Ig n itio n T im ing Inspection
Check ig n itio n tim in g .
Is the ig n itio n tim in g correct?
NO - • Faulty ECM
• Faulty CKP sensor
• Faulty TP sensor
YES - GO TO STEP 7.
