LIGHTS/METERS/SWITCHES
SPEEDOMETER/VS SENSOR
SYSTEM INSPECTION
Check th a t the ta ch o m e te r and c o o la n t tem perature
m eter fun ctio n properly.
• If they do not fu n c tio n , p e rfo rm the p cw e r and
ground line inspection o f the co m bination m eter
(page 22-9).
• If they fu n c tio n , disconnect the co m bination
m eter 20P (Gray) connector.
S h ift the ne u tra l/d rive clutch in to neutral.
Turn the ig n itio n sw itch ON and engine stop
sw itch "O".
Measure the vo lta g e between the Pink (+) and
body ground (-).
S lo w ly tu rn the rear w heel by hand.
There should be 0 to 5 V pulse voltage.
- If pulse voltage appears, replace the com bina­
tio n meter.
- If pulse vo lta g e does n o t appear, check fo r
open o r sh o rt c irc u it in Pink w ire.
If the Pink w ire is OK, check the VS sensor
(page 22-12).
20P CONNECTOR
VS SENSOR INSPECTION
Remove the le ft u nder co w l (page 3-11).
Disconnect the VS sensor 3P (Black) connector.
Check fo r loose or p o o r contact te rm in a ls at the V£>
sensor 3P (Black) connector.
Turn the ig n itio n sw itch ON and m easure the v o lt­
age at the 3P (Black) co n n e cto r at the w ire harness
side.
CONNECTION: Black (+) - Green (-)
STANDARD: Battery voltage
If there is no voltage, check the fo llo w in g :
- Black w ire open c ircu it
- Green w ire open c ircu it
- C heckthe TCM (page 11-115).

VS SENSOR REMOVAL/
INSTALLATION
Rem ove the left under cow l (page 3-11).
Release the w ire s fro m the clam p.
Disconnect the VS sensor 3P (Black) connector.
Rem ove the bolt.
