FUEL SYSTEM (PGM-FI)
DTC 11-1 (VS SENSOR)
• Before starting the inspection, check fo r loose or
p o o r contact on the VS sensor 3P connector and
recheck the DTC.
1. VS Sensor System Inspection
S upport the m otorcycle securely and raise the
rear wheel o ff the ground.
S h ift the n eutral/drive clutch in to drive.
Start the engine and operate the th ro ttle grip.
Check the VS sensor w ith the HDS pocket tester.
Is the vehicle speed in d ic a te d n o rm a lly ?
YES - GO TO STEP 2.
NO - GO TO STEP 3.
2. Recheck the DTC
Reset the DTC (page 6-13).
Test ride the m otorcycle.
S top the engine.
Turn the ig n itio n sw itch ON and engine stop
switch "O".
Check the VS sensor w ith the HDS pocket tester.
Is th e DTC 11-1 indicated?
YES - Replace the ECM w ith a new one and
recheck.
NO - • Loose or p o o r contact on the ECM
connectors.
• In te rm itte n t failure.
3. Combination M eter Inspection
Check fo r o peration o f co m b in a tio n meter.
Does the co m b in a tio n m e te r operate n orm ally?
NO - Inspect the co m b in a tio n m eter (page
22-9).
YES - GO TO STEP 4.
4. VS Sensor Input Voltage Inspection
T urn the ig n itio n sw itch OFF.
Disconnect the VS sensor 3P connector {page 22-
12 ).
T urn the ig n itio n sw itch ON and engine stop
switch "O".
Measure the voltage at the VS sensor connector
o f the w ire harness side.
CONNECTION: Black(+) - Green(-)
Does the b a tte ry voltage exist?
NO - • Open o r sh o rt c irc u it in the Black
w ire.
• Open c ircu it in the Green wire.
YES - GO TO STEP 5.
